THE BRIDGE LEICESTER

HOMELESSNESS TO HOPE

The Bridge Homelessness to Hope Melton Street facility has been closed to staff, volunteers and guests during most of the COVID-19 lockdown. In this period, some of our staff members have been volunteering at local food banks and through this, have kept in touch with a number of our usual guests.

From Monday 18 May 2020, following a comprehensive risk assessment procedure to ensure that the work environment is COVID-secure, we will be open for case work with the city’s homeless community. Please note that food and other support services will not be offered at this moment as we assess what we will be able to do, whilst keeping within all of the government safety guidelines.

Our phone and email networks will now be monitored but as some of our work will be external to our offices, please bear with us if you do leave a message and we’ll respond to you as quickly as we can. If you have an urgent enquiry relating to homelessness services in Leicester, please contact Housing Options at Leicester City Council on 0116 454 1008.

Currently there are over 30 people sleeping rough on the streets of Leicester. Many more are in temporary or unsuitable accommodation.

THE MENTORING PROJECT

This mentoring project was established to support homeless and vulnerably-housed adults with multiple and complex needs who live in Leicester. It aims to increase the mentees’ confidence, reduce social isolation, improve mental and physical health and access practical help.In essence this project provides more than a temporary fix to homelessness. It provides the mentee with the support and guidance of a mentor that can make a life-changing, long term difference…
