A team of 18 people from Oakwood Training took to Nottingham's National Sports Centre in aid of their fundraiser for The Bridge Homelessness to Hope.
On Sunday 3rd October 18 of the Oakwood Team, supported by many family members and friends, met at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham to take on the white water rafting course.
Most of the team had never rafted before and had no idea what to expect but after a lot of laughing, falling in, and trying to carry out all of the instructions, the rafting guides shouted that they had all completed the course!
Oakwood Training, chose The Bridge to be their charity partner at the end of 2019 after hearing about the work they were doing to support homeless people and those at risk of becoming homeless. Since then they have delivered training in personal safety and mental health awareness to both the staff and volunteers.
"To date over £3600 has been raised for The Bridge through this fundraising event and we're delighted that this is being used towards their mentorship programme which provides support to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, to help improve their mental and physical health by providing practical support."
