Without our volunteers we could not function. We are so proud of our volunteers and eternally grateful for the work they do and the part they play. Each of them has their own story and reason for working with us. They have kindly allowed us to video them talking about their experiences. Take a few moments to see what they have to say.

WARM CLOTHES – FOOD

Donate to The Bridge Homelessness to Hope

We can’t do what we do without you. It’s as simple as that. Many local people rely on us for food, friendship and a chance to improve their futures. There are many ways you can help us continue with our life-changing work.

DONATE FOOD
Hunger is one of the biggest issues faced when on the streets. We appreciate any spare food you can donate - although please do check with us first so we are able to manage our food stocks and ensure food does not go to waste.
DONATE YOUR OLD CLOTHES
It can get very cold out on the streets. Please help us by donating the following items: coats, jumpers, gloves, hats, scarfs, thick socks, underwear, sturdy shoes and jeans.
DONATE FURNITURE
When we help get people off the streets, your old furniture could be in someones new living room.

DONATE CLOTHES

It’s cold on the streets. We always need good quality clothing for men and women – especially jeans, coats, fleeces, new underwear, gloves, socks and trainers. Please use the form at the bottom of the page to get in touch with the team about donating clothes or other items.

Latest Fundraising Opportunities

Join The Big Sleep to support Leicester’s homeless

Local businesses are being challenged to spend a night under the stars in aid of The Bridge Homelessness to Hope. We need a group of volunteers to wrap up warm and brace themselves for a night out in the elements to raise awareness of homelessness and the reality of ‘sleeping rough’. The Big Sleep event will be taking place at the University of Leicester on 21 March 2019. Volunteers will spend the night under the stars for a taste of what street homelessness might be like – with only cardboard, a sleeping bag, flasks and the clothes on their back for warmth. All funds raised through the sponsorship for the event will be donated to The Bridge Homelessness to Hope to help the city’s homeless community. If you and/or your colleagues are brave enough to join The Big Sleep challenge, please register your interest by emailing david@bridgeleicester.org. We’d be delighted to hear from you!

DONATE MONEY

You can now donate to The Bridge Homelessness to Hope through Virgin Money Giving, just click on the button below and select an amount. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

We do not receive any statutory/ government funding and rely on donations from the public. We keep our overheads low so that virtually all the money we receive is spent on directly providing services for people on the streets. – £1 can provide a hot meal for a homeless person – £5 will pay for a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings – £10 will buy a sleeping bag But don’t feel you have to stop there, we would be extremely happy with donations of £50, £100 or even a £1,000!

£4 CAN FEED 4 PEOPLE

Give regularly to support our work

We are looking for 1000 kind individuals to set up a monthly donation of at least £4. We’ll use your regular donations to support the increasing demand on our services, such as the food sessions, where just £4 can provide a hot meal for 4 guests.

WHY A MEAL?
By providing good food, a welcome and warmth, The Bridge seeks to buy time and give hope.
MOVING ON
We aspire to enable people to move on from rough sleeping, hostel environments and dependency, to living independent lives free from addiction and benefits.
HELPING OTHERS FIND HOPE
Our guests are a mixture of people who are either homeless or vulnerably housed. Economic and social exclusion is the norm. People come to The Bridge seeking company and support.

REGULAR GIVING

As The Bridge gets busier and our services expand, we always need donations to cover our day-to-day running costs.

Our Operations Manager, David, took his mother for lunch and noticed the cafe had a sign promoting that a coffee and cake deal was £4.59. He thought, “what a good deal!”

Did you know for just £4, we can feed 4 guests a hot meal at our sessions?

The Bridge is looking for 1000 kind individuals to set up a monthly donation of at least £4, this will be used to expand the food sessions and support the increasing demand on our current services. Less than £1 a week can make a HUGE difference to someone’s life.
