The Vardy Christmas Gifts campaign, set up by Rebekah and Jamie Vardy (Leicester City’s star striker), has raised over £6,000 for The Bridge Homelessness to Hope.
The Vardys kindly donated two Leicester City Football Club shirts, signed by Jamie, and through their social media channels, encouraged online donations to the charity via a Just Giving web page. Over 300 people generously donated and were entered into a draw for the shirts. The lucky recipients were Sharon Reid and Daniel Chisholm.
The campaign raised £3,056.32 and the Vardys have generously agreed to match this amount.
Rebekah and Jamie Vardy said: “The Bridge Homelessness to Hope does invaluable work for Leicester’s homeless community. Having visited the centre before and spoken to some of the people who use it, we know first-hand how much it means to them just to be able to come in for something we all take for granted such as a hot meal, a cup of tea and a chat. It was wonderful to be able to support this local charity at Christmas and we want to thank everyone who donated to the campaign.”
David Fawcett, Executive Operations Manager at The Bridge Homelessness to Hope added: “We’re so grateful to Rebekah and Jamie for this initiative and their ongoing support of the charity. These donations will fund the vital provision of food servings, winter clothing and other support services.”
